Motivation Is overrated

Motivation is overrated, let’s be honest.

Sure, it feels good when it shows up.

You know what I mean, especially when you’ve been to those “feel good”, “inspire you to take action” type events?

What happens after a week? A month?

When the motivation wears off and you are thinking of going for another event just like it.

To rediscover the magic, to get “Inspired and motivated” again.

Motivation is unreliable.
It comes and goes like the weather.

And if you’ve ever tried to build something meaningful – whether it’s a business, a habit, or a new chapter of life – you need to know the truth:

You won’t always feel motivated to…

  • Start something new
  • Push through challenges
  • Make the tough decisions

I remember countless days when I didn’t feel like it.
When it would have been easier to postpone the ad, skip the training, or tell myself, “Tomorrow’s a better day to begin.”

But here’s the thing:

The people who succeed?
Don’t rely on feeling like it, or when they feel like it.

They rely on commitment, a commitment to themselves.

They decide and act on the commitment.

And you’ll find that motivation follows after they start.

I learned that the hard way.

When I transitioned out of my old career, it wasn’t because I suddenly felt fired up every morning.

It was because I committed (also I didn’t have a choice partly) – even when it was uncomfortable, unclear, or inconvenient.

I knew I did not find it worth my while to compete in real estate anymore, so I committed myself to learning something new that served my purpose that didn’t require me to entertain clients when I didn’t feel like it and spend more time with my family.

That was when I discovered I could learn to make money starting an online business. I committed to developing my online business seeing the potential and as something that was “Future Proof”.

That commitment pulled me forward.

That was also what launchpad gave me, a plan I could stick to, even when the excitement wore off.

Something I could trust when I didn’t trust myself to feel inspired.

What are you truly committed to?

What are you committed to, no, not when you’re feeling good.

Not when everything’s going your way.

But if the cards were stacked against you?

I guess you don’t need to feel motivated.

You just need to move, because where your focus goes, the energy will flow.
